The Legacy Vein Clinic treatments offer the perfect balance of knowledge, technology and personal care

At Legacy Vein Clinic we offer three treatment options, based on the type of disorder you have and the degree to which that disorder has progressed. Those options are: Endovenous Laser Treatment, Sclerotherapy and Microphlebectomy.

Endovenous Laser Treatment is an FDA-approved alternative to the surgical stripping of the greater saphenous vein, which is the culprit in most varicose vein cases. This therapy requires a small needle stick into the affected vein, through which a laser fiber is inserted. As pulses of light are delivered inside the vein by the laser system, the vein collapses and is sealed shut. This treatment is relatively painless, requiring only local anesthesia. Following the procedure, the leg is wrapped in compression hose and the patient can resume normal activities.

Microphlebectomy is the minimally-invasive surgical removal of surface varicose veins. It too is performed on an out-patient basis, under local anesthesia, and patients are able to walk immediately after the procedure. Microphlebectomy incisions are tiny (so tiny that sutures are not usually needed) and typically leave nearly imperceptible marks.

Sclerotherapy can be used to treat either varicose veins or spider veins (although it is more frequently used for spider veins). It involves using a tiny needle to inject medication into the damaged vein(s). The medication irritates the vein's lining, causing it to collapse and be reabsorbed. If dealt with at an early stage, spider veins can be prevented from becoming a larger problem. Depending on the type and number of veins being treated, you may need one to several injections over one to several sessions. The procedure has little associated discomfort and you will be able to easily walk out of the facility at the end of the procedure wearing compression stockings.
